EURid's Q3 2026 update puts the .eu domain base at 3,787,173 registrations, with 166,503 new registrations during the quarter. The figures describe a registry market, not how many websites are active or whether a particular name is available.
What EURid reported
EURid published its third-quarter 2026 update on October 12. At the end of the quarter, it counted 3,787,173 .eu registrations and reported 166,503 new registrations during Q3. Its average renewal rate during the quarter was 75%.
Germany accounted for 960,649 registrations in EURid's country table, followed by the Netherlands with 439,687 and France with 319,170. The same update says the 2026 .eu Web Awards received 192 nominations from 22 countries during September. These are different measures: nominations are not domain registrations, and registration totals are not a count of active sites or distinct owners.
What the figures mean for domain planning
The quarterly figures show the scale of the European namespace, but they do not tell you whether your exact name is available, eligible for registration, or the best fit for your audience. If a European identity is relevant to your project, explore the .eu extension on NicNames and check the specific name and its current terms before making a decision.
For a wider view, our Q2 global domain-market summary explains how to read registration totals across extensions. Before choosing any name, use the NicNames price-comparison guide to assess registration and renewal costs together. Registry-level popularity alone does not establish search rankings, website traffic or resale value.
